Spring training fans are hardcore. Aren't these the best kicks ever?

We pulled into Scottsdale on Wednesday, March 4 in time to make part of the A's-Giants game at Scottsdale Stadium. We were a day ahead of the Gotham Club group but the Saguaro were able to accommodate us, putting us into a ground-floor room with patio adjacent to the "calma" pool.

Scout manages to put up with her pool-side accommodations.

We parked the Airstream behind the hotel, which was pretty handy as we nipped back and forth quite a bit moving our stuff from the trailer to the hotel room. This trip, Denver to Scottsdale, was our first test of the changes made to the interior. There were minor issues we could have waited on fixing but we ran into a major problem with the convertible bed that needed to be fixed immediately. Timeless Travel Trailers sent down a driver to pick up the trailer and drive it back to Denver for about a week's worth of repairs. So we are "stranded" at the Saguaro for an extra week.

The Gamer went on a trip of her own back to Denver without us :(

The first part of our time in Scottsdale was spent with the Gotham Club. This is our second year at Cactus League spring training with the Gothams. It's pretty great as the group is small and the association with the Giants means we have access to some great people and places.

Batting practice anyone?

Trying on a World Series ring for size

Hanging out with former Giants pitcher Dave Dravecky

Meeting one of the Brandons

Getting some sweet autographs

And watching some baseball of course. In this case, Matt Cain looking sharp over two innings in his first spring training game.

Up next is the nerdfest known as the SABR Analytics Conference.
